THE JADE MAGISTRATES
The Code of Conduct
for the Jade Magistrates
1) All heroes must be of either Natural or Magic origin, and created on the Triumph server.
2) All Heroes must conform to either the calling of Bushi (Warrior) or Shugenja (Sorcerer).
3) All heroes must adhere to Clan colours (only ronin or monks wear just black, brown, or gray). If you're not sure what your Clan Colours are, send me a message.
4) Ronin, monks, and tattooed men are allowed - however, your bio should state why you've joined up with the group (redemption, a mission from Shinsei, Togashi told you to, whatever).
5) For those REALLY conversant with L5R, minor Clans are allowed. However, don't be surprised if the major Clan heroes boss you around. They're allowed to (within reason).
6) All heroes must try to get as close to the Oriental look as possible (if you don't have the Samurai armor veteran award yet, do your best)... but this is not Rokugan40K.
7) As there is no spear/naginata/no dachi yet, Bushi must use Katanas (or Mace/tetsu-bo if you're a Crab), or else be martial artists. Bushi can also use bows. ONLY Mirumoto Dragon Clan members can use two katanas (or katana and wakizashi). Everyone else uses ONE.
8) Only Scorpion Clan Heroes (both bushi and shugenja) can take any of the Dark sets. (The exception are Kuni Witch Hunter Heroes and the Phoenix Clan shugenja, as a representation of Void magic.)
9) All samurai have their gifts. Every Clan can be well represented in COH - you don't all have to be Mirumoto Dragon dual-wielding weedwhackers.
10) Only shugenja can take Flight or Teleport for movement powers. For everyone else, it's Running or Super Leap. If you want to get to the top of Atlas, get someone to give you a TP.
11) No wings. Period. Whether you're entitled to them or not. If you get a recipe for them, auction them off and donate the influence.
12) Role-playing is encouraged, as long as it doesn't get out of hand.
13) All Heroes must be in SG mode at all times.
14) Promotion depends on earned prestige, in-game role-playing, and volunteering for teaming/task forces.
15) If you have questions about building a character to fit both L5R and COH, send me a message. General Clan/class suggestions can be found here.

"For cowards, there is no life.
For samurai, there is no death."
Based on the role-playing game "Legend of the Five Rings," the Jade Magistrates is a supergroup for the MMORPG "City of Heroes." A group of samurai have arrived in Paragon City, and have sworn to uphold the code of bushido in their new home. These samurai range from those transported from the distant past, to others who are the reincarnations of long-gone heroes. While the ties to Empire and Clan are still strong, the Jade Magistrates are firmly supportive of the law and government of Paragon City.
These samurai are led by the samuraiko Kakita Nasami, famed swordswoman of the Clan of the Crane (and rumoured to be a favorite of the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu). Nasami named the group the Jade Magistrates for three reasons.
The first is that their 'cousin' magistrates, the Emerald Magistrates, serve the Emperor, while the Jade Magistrates serve the Empire.
The second is that in her homeland, jade was a sacred healing stone, as well as a potent talisman against the vile Taint of evil. Here, Nasami figures the city needs all the protection it can get.
The third is that jade is said to be the tears of Amaterasu. Upon seeing the hard times that have befallen Paragon City, Nasami remarked, "How Lady Sun must have wept to see this place."
The Magistrates are the embodiment of the code of the samurai, and adhere to it at all times. While admitting that technology is useful, they prefer to trust in the methods that have seen them through time and again.
